Day Two – The City that Never Sleeps
The city never sleeps and apparently neither does AFO, it was a late night and an early morning for one of the busiest days of the Tour. There is a lot to see and do in New York and we packed in the best of it for our first full day.
Day One – Welcome to New York
Zzzzzzz.
That is pretty much the only thing on everyone’s mind right now as we sit in the SOHO Room at the Hostel eating New York Pizza, and loving every bite.
Zip Slide Across the River Ayr
AFO take to the skies. Or at least off the ground as the crane lifts us up above Ayr to Zip slide across the river and safely (hopefully) land on the other side.
Summer Ceilidh and BBQ
Saturday night was one of our biggest events on the calendar, the Summer Ceilidh and BBQ. The Troon Parish Church Hall was packed with orchestra players, parents and friends for an evening of fun and dancing.
Summer Concert 2017
The AFO Summer Concert is the last chance to hear us play in Scotland before we head off on our tour of America and Canada.
Summer Ceilidh
Our Summer Ceilidh will take place on 10th June in Troon Old Parish Church Hall in Ayr Street Troon from 7.30-12 midnight. Glenpark Ceilidh Band will provide the music and we will have an American theme barbecue, as well as a raffle.
Zipline
The AFO adrenalin junkies are taking to the sky on the 17th of June to cross the River Ayr to raise Orchestra funds.

Silent Auction
Saturday night saw the return of our silent auction fundraiser. There was a wide variety of items up for auction for example, an x-box, a rowing machine, whiskey, pack of AFO playing cards, Dvd’s, a guitar etc. Not all big ticket items but every little helps.

Burns’ Week
January is one of the busiest months for the orchestra as we are in popular demand to preform at Burns’ Suppers. Over this last week we have had groups playing all over Ayrshire and even down in the House of Commons in London.
Tour Year
I hope everyone had a great Christmas break and you’re all feeling fresh and ready for 2017, I know I am.
2017 will be another very exciting year for the orchestra and we are starting the final preparations and fundraising for the North America Summer Tour.
Happy New Year
Happy new year from everyone in the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, we hope you all had a great night of celebrations.
Bag Packing
Another annual fundraising event for the orchestra is bag packing. This year we had groups at both Morrisons and Tesco in Ayr on two separate days over the festive period.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from AFO.
I hope you all have a fantastic day with family and friends.
Christmas Concert
Last night was another extremely successful AFO Christmas concert
The night featured many of our favourite tunes, some of which we will be playing when we travel to North American next year. As it was our annual Christmas concert we did also play our favourite Christmas arrangements of Jingle Bells and our Christmas Medley arranged by our musical director David Moore.
