A.F.O’s Cracking Christmas Fayre.

A.F.O’s Cracking Christmas Fayre.

A huge thank you from all of us in the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra for coming along to spend time with us at our much anticipated Christmas Fayre in the Ayr Town Hall.

As usual, we all came together with our home baking, bottles, toys, and books to raise funds for our brilliant organisation. There were many highlights of the day but a rather unexpected fire alarm meant we were all evacuated out into the cold street. Fortunately, those who had been playing brought their fiddles and some kids brought some dancing skills. Then before you know it we were having a small ceilidh in Ayr High Street to keep warm!

The Christmas stall had some lovely unique gift buying opportunities. The fiddle orchestra kept us all in the festive mood with some tunes which was especially enjoyed by those sitting in our tearoom. So many of us baked some delicious treats to be given out with the tea and coffee which was enjoyed by everybody. As usual, the bottle stall was a giant hit along with our newcomer the teddy bear tombola. This year we tried something new and extended our talents to making soup which was very well received.

Some lovely crafty baubles on display.

This event could not have happened without one of our adult volunteers Al who coordinated the whole day along with his team of helpers, so thank you to all of them. Another thank you to everybody who got involved whether it was in the tea room, handing in tombola prizes, donating to the raffle prizes or baking some show stoppers – it is all greatly appreciated.

Speaking of raffle prizes – Our director Euan was the very excited winner of this HUGE dog.

All in all, it was a superb day for a great cause – helping us continue to have wonderful opportunities to play both locally and further afield but most importantly keeping our Scottish musical heritage alive. Your support means so much to us all and it was great to see you enjoying your Saturday with us. Although it may seem like just a Christmas time fundraiser, it is also a moment before it gets to that busy time of year, that we can spend time with each other – and that is what makes this annual event special.

Festive full house.

Now a special reminder: If you came along to our Christmas Fayre and liked what you heard, a perfect Christmas gift or festive night out would be our upcoming Christmas Concert in this same venue, the Ayr Town Hall. It will be on Saturday the 14th of December at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Ayr Gaiety Box Office. It would be lovely to see you there!
