Wallace Galbraith MBE
Director. Founder. After an earlier career in the bakery and catering industry, in 1977 Wallace began teaching violin in Ayrshire Schools and was a founder member of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra which became the inspiration for the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. Wallace has been closely involved in all aspects of music in Ayrshire – for 12 years as conductor of the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra – and was awarded the MBE for services to music and his work with the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. He is currently the Scottish Development Officer for Trinity College London and leads the Arioso Quartet specialising in music for Weddings and Corporate functions
David Moore
Musical Director. David was born in Ayrshire and has lived in Prestwick all his life. He has always shown a love for music and was selected to receive violin lessons whilst at primary school, where he studied under Lex Galbraith and later Wallace Galbraith. They introduced him to the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra where David’s love of fiddle Music began whilst undertaking tours around the world with the orchestra. David began to study under the acclaimed Alistair McCulloch who David continued to study under at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. David was delighted this year to be invited to become Musical Director of the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra. You can see him conduct the orchestra at many concerts and events. His professional ceilidh band ‘Brae‘ now play widely throughout Scotland at many events such as weddings, conferences and civic occasions.
Euan Terras
Vice Chairman / Tour Manager/ Co-Director Euan is a practicing solicitor running a successful commercial and private client Law Firm and has extensive knowledge of the day to day running of charities and voluntary organisations and their associated legal frameworks and OSCR Regulations. Euan is responsible for the compliance, administrative and logistics side of running the orchestra, organising all aspects of our tours.
Kathleen Terras
Secretary. Co-Director. Founder member of the Orchestra, Kathleen is currently the Leader of the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra and has her own String Quartet ‘Tonality’ who regularly play at various functions. A specialist Primary Music teacher with South Ayrshire Kathleen also has an extensive private teaching practice.
Alistair McCulloch
Honorary Musical Director Ayrshire born Alistair McCulloch has been Scottish National Fiddle Champion on three occasions and is in constant demand as a performer both at home and abroad. Alistair is involved in a range of musical projects and is perhaps best known for his work with the band ‘Coila‘ and as a soloist with the renowned Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and his many recordings. Alistair also enjoys teaching the fiddle privately and at the Glasgow Fiddle Workshop. See Alastair’s website.
