The Rising Sun Tour Reckie!

The Rising Sun Tour Reckie!

Euan and Wallace set off on Monday 5th November for Tokyo to spend a week visiting all the Concert venues, accommodation, checking transport, luggage movements and generally making sure that all is in place for next July’s fantastic Tour!

After 4 days in Tokyo, the fabled Bullet Train – Shinkansen  – will take them to Kyoto and then onto Hiroshima where next July, following the planting of Ginkgo tree seeds at Belleisle  Conservatory earlier this year, gifts from Provost Helen Moonie and South Ayrshire Council will be handed over to the Mayor of Hiroshima and the Secretariat of Mayors for Peace while the Orchestra play the specially composed ‘Lament for Hiroshima’.

Yokohama, the base for the SRU Team at next September’s Rugby World Cup will also be the venue for  a Reception and Concert.

Our thanks go to  former player, Andrew McGarva, for his invaluable help with contacts, the Japan Scotland Society, the Japan Scotland Association, members of the Japanese RSCDS, the Scottish Development Office and all those in Japan who will make this wonderful Tour possible.
