Settling the Score
Settling the Score! – no, not an outbreak of orchestral discord, but a celebration of 20 years of music-making by almost 1000 young Ayrshire musicians. Since August 1982, the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra has performed and entertained audiences in Scotland and worldwide with their distinctive and enthusiastic playing of Scots’ Fiddle Music. Under their Musical Director, Alistair McCulloch, they demonstrate the musical skills that have brought the Orchestra the many appreciative accolades over the years.
Fiona Mitchell and Sandy Burnett. Both from Ayrshire, Fiona and Sandy have varied musical backgrounds and now play a range of Traditional Scottish and Irish Music as well as performing their own compositions. Together, they have a distinctive musical style combining the deep resonance of the cello with the light quality of the guitar to compliment pleasing vocals.
Aimee Toshney. Aimee started singing at the age of 10 and has been performing and competing ever since, reaching the National Final of the Burns Festival for School Children. She joined the orchestra in 2001 and has performed with them at home and abroad. After completing a languages degree at Glasgow University, she intends to pursue a career in music.
