Scotland's heritage is a rich and varied tapestry of history and folklore, romance and legend, much of which is reflected in its music and song. Fiddle music is very much part of that culture and can be traced from Scotland through Shetland to Scandinavia and across the World to wherever Scots have made their home. Its spectrum includes lively jigs, emotive laments, stirring marches, tranquil airs and dashing reels. Although traditional in nature, fiddle music is very much alive today, enhanced by succeeding generations, each of which makes its own unique and often innovative contribution to the repertoire. This recording includes a number of recent compositions, the Tivoli Waltz, Geoffrey's Tune and Greenan Castle.
